Increase Your Green!

I recently teamed up with DoSomething.org and HP to judge their national campaign, Increase Your Green. The campaign encourages schools to think of creative ways to reduce waste, save energy and use technology to better their campuses and communities for the environment. Overall, ten schools with outstanding projects were selected as finalists. One of my favorites was San Marcos High School, whose 35-member earth club collected 3,500 used plastic bottles to create a display in their community. The display aimed to raise awareness about the use of one-time goods. In the US, 3,500 bottles are thrown away every five seconds.
Of the 10 finalist selected by the organization, the Grand Prize winner will receive a $5,000 grant to keep their projects going and an HP Artist Edition Notebook. Four additional winners will receive $1,000 grants to continue their work. I want to wish each finalist the best of luck and personally thank them for their efforts to increase the green!
