The Nasdaq, the world’s largest exchange company, spotlighted the Edeyo Foundation and Haiti this morning. I was there to represent as a board member of Edeyo and spoke live across Time Square to the world about the efforts Edeyo are making to rebuild Haiti. Last week I organized a fundraiser with many of my influential friends and colleagues in the fashion and entertainment industries raising over $50,000.00 split between Concern USA and the Edeyo.org. The fundraiser was held at 1 Oak and sponsored by Skyy Vodka and Moet.
Haiti is in tatters and the school that Edeyo opened in 2007 was destroyed. 100s of children are still missing and many teachers are feared dead. Edeyo is planning on opening a medical clinic in the old school in Bel Aire in Port Au Prince to treat the children. In the long run the foundation plans to home the teachers and children with the aid of Habiquad.com where for every 50 homes they build habiquad will build 5 for free. Housing is imperative but education is key and paramount to Edeyo’s mission. Through education the Edeyo Foundation plans to rebuild not just the infrastructure of Haiti but to prepare the next generation to be the building blocks of their own future.
