Cool vs. Cruel is an annual fashion design contest that challenges students of The Art Institutes to re-interpret and improve runway looks by creatively replacing the animal fur with cruelty-free alternatives. This is the second year I participated and gave a speech about the seal hunt. The crux of my speech was that ‘Green’ and ’sustainable’ have been the buzz words in Vogue but that now they were expected not inspirational. But thanks to the hard work of the Humane Society of the United States the word on everyones tongue is ‘Humane’. Yet this is not a fad but rather a way of life and the only future we can except if we plan to deliver a better world to the next generation. www.protectseals.org
