Some of you might be aware that I am endorsing Sony alongside Justin Timberlake and Peyton Manning in an upcoming ad campaign launching in October. And although in endorsement deals you get paid to say things the fact of the matter is the new SONY A900 DSLR is the best digital SLR camera I have ever shot with for a number of reasons. Other than the fact it holds well, is weighted perfectly and has a range of Zeiss lenses, the actual 25 Mega Pixel files are gorgeous. The color reproduction blows the competition out of the water and the way the pixels are organized replicates a high res transparency that’s been scanned in rather than a digital file – stunning! I actually replaced all my DSLRs and lenses for a full Sony kit. Below are a selection of shots taken in the last few weeks with the new A900. If you are looking to buy a DSLR system seriously consider the A900 and if you are already committed to another brand, all I can do is offer my sympathy……. Of course a good camera doesn’t make you a good photographer but in this day and age of 1000s of new digital cameras it certainly helps to have the inside scoop.

good to see other confirming what was my impression as well.
I switched back from Canon 5DMKII as I was not happy with skin tones and overall color rendering.
Sony’s processing a(at least upto 800ISO is way superior to Canon’s muted colors!
[...] Following his blog, I found an interesting post he made recently. He mentioned how good the Sony Alpha pro cameras have gotten and even took them out for a test drive. Being a Sony Alpha user myself, it’s about time that the Alpha lineup got some raves and pro recommendation. Their cameras with the combination of some Zeiss lenses results in some truly amazing quality. But before I sound like a Sony spokesperson myself, check out this new TV ad that features Nigel Barker himself, football superstar Peyton Manning, and the icing on the cake, Justin Timberlake. It’s a pretty funny commercial and can’t wait for the rest of the campaign to come out! Check it out here! [...]
Its about time Sony starts getting credit in the DSLR market. Great pictures too!
Great work, Nigel. I plan to make the jump from my trusty Nikon D40 to a Sony Alpha soon.
PS: I also enjoyed your spots on http://www.sony.com/experts.
Anybody interested in the Sony Alpha system of DSLR cameras should definitely check out the Sony alpha group on Flickr.

I might check it out only wish I could take
such stunning photos
I am a Canon SLR user – the Sony Alpha sounds awesome – thanks for the heads up for my next camera!
Great photos – particularly love Chris Mann – I actually have his music on my ipod!
I adore Chris Mann. Not only is he a brilliant singer- he’s a nice, nice guy.
You don’t get that package everyday.
I love my Sony but a huge disapointment for me is that you cannot hire lenses here in the UK. if Sony were serious about breaking into the pro market, they should head down to Calumet or one of the other places that rent Canon and Nikon lenses and make it worth their while to stock them.
I considered switching to Nikon after being forced to buy a new lens to replace one the broke down days before a job.
Chris Mann is one of my favorites! Gorgeous voice and not so hard to look at, either. You did a wonderful job capturing him.
So is that why Tyra is using and old Hasselblad on the new series of ANTM?
“This $20,000 body is rubbish, time to break out the new $3k hotness from the world leader in photography – Sony! Here Tyra, throw this old thing in the rubbish bin”
Really? I mean, nice pics, but come on. How much did Sony pay you for your undying support?
I’m a Canon girl, but would switch to Sony (in a heartbeat). I know a few photographers that swear by their a900.
Great shots. I’m a HUGE Chris Mann Fann! He’s just an awesome guy.
Great Shot!
