A Time For Heroes Celebrity Picnic!

With our film for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation in the final throes of editing for it’s September release and our PSA airing on the Disney Channel we were particularly excited about this year’s event at the Wadsworth Theatre grounds in sunny Los Angeles. The event itself raises millions of dollars for the Foundation, which in turn helps them on their mission of creating a generation free of HIV through research and treatment programs in 18 countries around the world.
This year, I was invited to the board of directors’ dinner party held at CEO of Disney’s beautiful home and hosted by Magic Johnson. Magic spoke about how Elizabeth encouraged him to become the face of HIV and how renewing her legacy was all the more important now. I also addressed the distinguished group of doctors, executives and celebrities about our upcoming film “Generation Free” (a 2 minute preview was playing in every room in their house!). I feel extraordinarily passionate about this film, which of course is not exactly surprising but I truly believe that if we get the message out – that we don’t need any new medicines nor research and that all we need to do is get people tested for HIV and treated if needs be, then we CAN create a Generation Free of HIV !
I spent Saturday morning with over a dozen individuals, all who are HIV positive and living life to the full, going to college, getting married and even having children of their own that are HIV negative. Their stories are courageous and uplifting to say the very least and they act as HIV ambassadors for the Foundation.
Of course the event itself was a huge hit with Disney underwriting the whole thing. There was a massive turnout with Miley Cyrus wrapping the afternoon up and rocking us all! The highlight of the picnic for me was the chance to interview Jake Glaser, Elizabeth’s son who is HIV positive and a picture of health and well being. We had met prior to the event but it was great to get that all important interview to finish off the documentary “Generation Free.”

Hi Nigel! i wanted to say that i entered on your blog thinking it would be 100% about fashion, and i was so wrong! Im so glad that i was wrong. ( Sorry about my english…but im from argentina..so…apologyze me if u dont quite understand what im trying to say to u).
Anyways.. u are such a beatiful person, u really are, the fact that u worry about suffering seals, people in pain, an also fashion, demonstrated me that i am not the only one who cares about this stuff. The difference is that you are a celebrity and you use it more than good.
OK…I extended a little bit..LOL…but only because you impacted me, i love fashion in fact Im studying to be a fashion designer, but i always tought it was so shallow, and now, thanks to you..I know that good things can come out of it.
Thank You So Much! You Inspired Me!

    Hi!
You seem to be such an caring & loving person.
It’s so wonderful really, that there is a few celebrities that really want to make the world a better place for both human race and animal race.
I don’t know if i put that quite correctly, but maybe you understand my point with this.

Thanks for what you’re doing, and you’re an amazing photographer aswell!

    /Greetings, Sweden

Congrats on all of the wonderful work you have been doing lately. I wanted to thank you yet again for taking the time to chat with me today (I interviewed you for Boho Magazine). I hope we get a chance to work together one day, in one form or anything, haha.
