Haiti: Hunger and Hope

Posted on January 9, 2009 - Filed Under Charity, Edeyo, Nigel Barker Today

Last night was the opening party for Haiti: Hunger & Hope. It was a resounding success with almost 800 people in attendance. Early figures suggest we brought in many thousands for the charity Edeyo. With the money they have the potential to educate and feed many children – it costs just $380.00 a year to feed and educate one child at Edeyo’s Ecole Bel Aire!
I want to say thank you to all my friends and staff who made the night possible and contributed both financially and personally. The Tyra show covered the whole event including a lot of behind the scenes which will be revealing I’m sure! I’d like to give a special shout out to Pamella Roland, John Crocco, Mary Alice Stephenson, Emma Snowdon-Jones, Alastair and Liz Tedford, Philip Bloch, Ann Shoket, Ira Schreck, Nancy Lublin, Kelly Bensimon, Adrien Brody, Coralie Charriol Paul, Susan Sarandon, Kristy Hinze, Spike Lee, Lisa Edelstein, kent and Liz Swig and Mazdack Rassi. Mazdack Rassi or “Rassi” is the owner of Milk studios and he very generously donated the space to us from the 8th to 12th of January. Our special musical guest was Belo who is also one of our featured artists in the Film, Haiti:Hunger & Hope. The film was playing last night but without audio as we had DJ Cassidy spinning the night away. The film will be playing at Milk Gallery with audio all day everyday for the rest of the week, so if you want to see the film swing by! The exhibit is open to the public and entrance is free, just spread the word. All my photos are for sale in four sizes with the proceeds benefitting the Edeyo foundation.
I hope to see you all again soon!

Location – Milk Gallery: 450 West 15th street (at 10th Ave), New York City

Hey Nigel! I stopped at the Gallery today after my meeting with Ali, and the photos are breath-taking and captivating. They capture so much emotion, and the reality of the severity in Haiti. See you Jan 22nd!

    Mr. Barker,
It is so refreshing to see what you are doing to touch the lives in Haiti. I will be praying for you and your family. Jesus speaks more about helping the poor than any other subject. I believe you got the hint. Keep up the good work.
    prayer and love, Beth
