Death Valley

Out in the September issue of Zink! Magazine is our story shot in Death Valley, California. Once a year for America’s Next Top Model, I fly out with my whole team and family in tow to Los Angeles to shoot a new season. And every time we try to shoot as many editorials as possible in the beautiful Californian wilderness like Joshua Tree, Big Sur and of course Death Valley. It was 110 degrees on the salt flats with no where to hide except the winnebago. Originally I had planned to shoot just one girl but after the casting we found two great models and decided it would be easier to stop them from melting in the heat if we booked both!
Regular faces on my team our Rodney E. Hall (stylist), Marcus Brooks ( my number 1), Ali Azios (Studio Manager), Bruce Grayson (make up), Charles Dujic (Hair) and Debbie Sue (our number 2). This was a two day shoot and a 6 hour drive from our home in Santa Monica. These kinds of location shoots are pretty arduous with the girls getting into hair and make up at 6 AM and shooting all day until 8 PM.
