The life and times of Nigel Barker

David’s Bridal and City Year

We just got back from a whistle stop trip to Philly, my first time I might add but certainly not my last! David’s Bridal and I have teamed up as many of you know, and it was they who brought me down to Moore College of Art and Design to host the “Mastbaum’s Next Top Model Prom Fashion Showâ€? in conjunction with City Year. City Year unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world. As tutors, mentors, and role models, these young leaders make a difference in the lives of children and transform schools and neighborhoods across the United States and in South Africa. David’s Bridal has been a strong supporter of City Year Greater Philadelphia’s service in schools across the city, and has sponsored Prom Fashion Shows at Mastbaum, Bartram, Kensington and South Philadelphia High Schools. Through these events David’s Bridal has donated nearly 180 dresses to students who would not otherwise have been able to purchase dresses for their proms.
I met with the councilors from City Year and chatted with them which was inspiring to say the least. Once again it is the youth of today who will be the leaders of tomorrow, funny thing is they could be the leaders of today too!
I also made a morning TV appearance on Comcast to discuss Prom – a subject that I am getting to know a lot about!!! And stayed for the cooking section and tasted delicious pistachio nut encrusted scallops, oh the perks of the job!!
